Rooting Sony Xperia : S,T,P,Acro S,Ion,Tipo,Tablet S,Go,Sola,U

What's rooting? Well,  Rooting is basically becoming the 'super-user' of your android device. Unlocking functions of the device that are locked from the factory, and gaining access to the file and operating system that you cant otherwise access. It invalidates warranty. If don't follow the procedure properly you may end up with a "bricked" device that is hard or impossible to restore, It's unlikely but possible.

This rooting method will work only for Android 4.0(ICS) and above.

This rooting method uses a remount timing issue in Androids "adb restore" service. So normally it should work for all ICS/JB devices.

But its a special case for Xperia T and Xperia S, Xperia P etc. smartphones. They do run ICS but lack android's native restore with adb, Sony has installed its own custom "Backup&Restore" app, this script handles this cases too, just don't forget to choose the correct option.
